Donovan’s Workshop
Dr. Olufemi Fadeyibi Mentoring Program · Video scripts and outreach letter
Overview
Two video scripts and a letter to school principals promoting Donovan’s World, a mentoring workbook and graphic novel for young Black and Latino men. The project focused on mentorship, education, and the choices that help young people overcome adversity.
Objectives
Introduce the workbook and its message, address limiting stereotypes, show the role of mentorship, and invite schools to host demonstrations and workshops. The primary audience was young Black and Latino men, with educators, school administrators, and mentors as a secondary audience.
My role
I researched the audience and the impact of mentoring programs, developed the scripts and principal letter, and collaborated with Dr. Fadeyibi to keep the materials aligned with his vision.
Introduction video
The opening challenges assumptions about what young people can become, using a conversation about being seen as an athlete rather than a doctor or lawyer. It introduces the workbook as a way to explore wider possibilities.
