Story
Seventeen-year-old Sarah arrives at a rundown Florida home to offer a free cleaning estimate. Ruth, the elderly homeowner, welcomes her inside, but unsettling details suggest this won’t be an ordinary job. As Sarah discovers what Ruth and her son Edgar have planned, a routine visit becomes a desperate attempt to escape.
Characters
Sarah
Seventeen-year-old Sarah works for a local cleaning business to support her mother and prove she can take care of herself. When a routine estimate turns dangerous, she must rely on her instincts to survive.
Ruth
Ruth’s frail appearance and welcoming manner conceal an obsession with rebuilding her broken family. She sees visitors as an opportunity to fill the places left empty.
Edgar
Ruth’s adult son longs for his mother’s approval and follows her lead. His dependence on her makes him a dangerous obstacle between Sarah and the door.
Setting
A rundown house in a Florida neighborhood. Plastic-covered furniture, family photographs, and cluttered rooms offer clues to the household Sarah has entered.
